Privacy
This page covers the free demo of Relics of the Ancients at relicsoftheancients.io. It is short because very little is collected.
What is counted
When someone starts the demo, first touches the screen after that, completes one of its steps, reaches the ending, or taps the itch.io or trailer link, the game adds one to that day's total. Alongside it, three rough labels are noted: which of a few named places sent you here (such as itch.io or LinkedIn, never the actual page), whether you are on a phone, a tablet or a desktop, and whether finishing took under ten minutes, ten to twenty, or longer.
That is all a count is: a number in a table of totals. It is not tied to you, your device or your internet address, and the game stores nothing on your device. There are no cookies.
The counts show how far players get and where they come from, so the game can be made better.
Your email address, if you give it
The ending offers to tell you when Episode One is out. If you type your email address there, it is kept for that one purpose: a single email when Episode One is released. It is not shared, sold or used for anything else, and it is deleted once that email has been sent.
Giving it is optional, and you can change your mind. Write to hello@relicsoftheancients.io and it will be removed. You can also ask what is held about you; the answer will be your email address and the date you gave it, or nothing.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the counts and email addresses. Like any web host, it handles your internet address in order to send you the page.
- Google Fonts supplies the lettering, so your browser fetches font files from Google when the page loads.
- itch.io and YouTube are only links. Nothing from them loads here; if you follow a link, their own policies apply.
